A 911 Turbo already does 90%
Above $50,000 a turntable buys you speed you will rarely use, and I only ask that you know that before you sign.

Going above $50,000 on a turntable is like trading a Porsche 911 Turbo for a Bugatti. Yes, the Bugatti is faster. The 911 already does 90% of what you need.
This is where my investment banker brain kicks in. The jump from $3,000 to $12,000 is enormous, and you hear it immediately. From $12,000 to $50,000 it is meaningful, if your system reveals it; above $50,000, all the way to $450,000, the gains are incremental at best.
Do not read that as contempt for the top. At $450,000 the TechDAS Air Force Zero is the pinnacle, and if cost is genuinely no object, nothing else is at that level. Levitating platters, two platters spinning in opposite directions: some of the engineering up there is extraordinary, and the ceiling keeps rising for those who demand it and can afford it.
My objection is only to buying blind to the curve. The sweet spot for serious turntables sits between $3,000 and $20,000, and the best value comes from models borrowing their own flagship's technology. Know which part of the curve you are standing on, and what the next dollar actually buys there.
Buy the Bugatti if you want it. Just know you are paying for the last 10%, and price it that way.
